Why do people join the security sector more by chance than choice? What keeps them involved? What are the best and worst things about a security career? In this special webinar Perpetuity Research launch the findings of their Security Research Initiative report. Lead researchers Professor Martin Gill and Charlotte Howell shared insights from the research including findings on what those involved say, what those who manage careers say and what needs to change in addressing the limitations of the current workforce. The aim of this webinar was to address:

  • Is there such a thing as a ‘career’ in private security? What does and does not makes security attractive to recruits?
  • What do we need to do to attract the best recruits and keep them?
  • Can security improve its image to be seen as a worthwhile career?

The session included a presentation by Charlotte Howell and Martin Gill, followed by contributions from expert guest panellists on current initiatives to promote security careers.

Panellists:
Rick Mounfield – Chief Executive at The Security Institute
David Scott – Managing Director at Skills for Security
